A Very Strong Year for Dominican Republic Tourism

The Caribbean’s biggest tourism market is having another very strong year.
The Dominican Republic is reporting an 8.5 percent increase in stayover tourist arrivals so far in 2015, according to data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
The country received 4.22 million stayover visitors from January through September, according to the CTO data.
That was buoyed by a strong summer that saw 10.3 percent year-over-year growth compared to 2014.
The growth was driven by a 12.1 percent increase in US visitors, although the country saw a 4.7 percent decrease in tourism from Europe.
The country has set a goal of reaching 10 million annual stay over tourists by 2023.
